The Francis Band began in 1987 when Francis Cabildo and Bill Selak met at Starbucks. Their immediate passion for both music and espresso was apparent. This, indeed, would be the foundation of The Francis Band. Music and espresso. Er, caramel frappucinos.
Young Gregory Andrews was added to the lineup in 1991. True, he was only four years old, but Greg had already been taking piano lessons for three years.
The magic in the band was apparent. As was the need to find a bass player and drummer.
Mike Meideros had been performing with his family in northern California for years. He made the move to sunny So Cal, and found Francis at, of all places, the parking lot for Whole Foods in Santa Monica. Francis was singing and playing air guitar, as Mike passed playing his all-too-famous air drums. Again, instant magic.
The last member of the band to be added is the legendary Alex Balderston. Alex played in a band with Mike, and Mike played in a band with The Francis Band. It was only a matter of time before Alex realized this, too. Alex was tricked into joining the band using the classic “Free Oatmeal” rouse.
